Show Review
After Supporting bands Bitter Breath, Aviana, Johnny Booth, and Thornhill finished hyping up the crowd, murmurs of anticipation started in the room before the headliner Silent Planet hit the stage.
Immediately the energy grew as Silent Planet started with "Offworlder" featured on their latest album SUPERBLOOM, which also happens to be the tours namesake. Surging into a roar of energy, the crowd quickly became engrossed in the experience and pure power that Silent Planet delivered. After about 5 songs the techno unearthly sound of "Antimatter" began playing and the room went wild, this was clearly a crowd favorite and highlight of the evening.
One thing I enjoyed about the set was the use of an in-house projector. They were projecting images associated with each song, which I had never seen any other band utilize. They were keeping the energy high with older songs like "Native Blood" and "Panic Room". To then turn around and continue bangers like ":Signal:" and "Nexus" From the SUPERBLOOM Album. Overall they ended the performance with a very high note with the album title song “SUPERBLOOM" during which the band would ask the crowd to light the entire room with flashlights.
A particular standout moment as the crowd chanted “one more song” was the projector takeover by supporting band Thornhill which saw the band playing Mario cart, prompting a laughing Silent Planet to return to the stage. With the crowd now both laughing but also longing for more, Silent Planet began the encore song "Trilogy" which had the concertgoers drilled with even more energy. Simultaneously members from the supporting bands joined on stage for some “last show of the tour” fun, with switching Instruments and crowd surfing.
It was clear the patrons would have stayed all night if allowed. Silent Planet is set to tour overseas in March. Catch them in places like Germany, Sweden, and even Spain!
