Live Review

It's reaching the end of Hot Mulligan's sold out UK run, with tonight's show at The Garage in London. Despite the somewhat dull weather, spirits are high with fans queuing outside the venue. It's not long till the venue starts to fill up, with long queues at merch and people grabbing their spots in the crowd before tonight's openers, Canadian quartet Arms Length

Making their live UK debut on this run, Arms Length take to the stage. Despite it being their first live appearance in London, it's clear they have fans who have been desperately waiting for a chance to see them live. Deafening shrieks came from the crowd from just the first lyric, lasting for the entirety of their set. Buckets of passion and gratitude richoeted between the members onstage as they described it as “the craziest show” they've ever played. Just short of two years of touring experience, Arms Lengthmore than proved they were born to perform.

As their set drew to a close, the nights first crowd surfers flung themselves over the barrier - making it difficult to believe this wasn’t their own headline show. No doubt Arms Length have made a lasting impression on everyone in attendance and its almost certain they will be headlining shows of their own when they next make it to the UK.

  2. Object Permanence

  3. Formative Age

  4. In Loving Memory

  5. Aries (Moth Song)

With the crowd well and truly warmed up, it's not long until tonight's headliners hit the stage. The atmosphere in the air leading to Hot Mulligan’s appearance only heightened with each passing minute. Their impressive seventeen song set is kicked off by ‘Drink Milk and Run’ and is met with an ear-rupturing applause. Throughout the set, the band and crowd are rivalled as each battled to be the most energetic, with not a single moment of calm.

Between tracks, lead vocalist Nathan ‘Tades’ Sanville takes a moment to interact with the crowd, ensuring a unique and personal show for everyone with the bands’ personality shining bright. Sanville’s live vocals are projected with grit and tenacity and hold the power and raw emotion you would find listening to Hot Mulligan from the comfort of your own home.

This tour marks the band’s first ever headline run in the UK and as such, they take full advantage of a longer set time with a mammoth seventeen song set that puts the crowd through their paces. Having rapidly sold out this run, the band have already announced another forthcoming UK tour this fall, with undoubtedly masses of fans planning to return for their Hot Mulligan fix.
