Live Review

Currents put on an impressive show for their fans in Nashville. The East Side Bowl provided an intimate setting for the band to connect with the audience, and they did not disappoint.

With the recent record release of “The Death we Seek”, Currents set off on tour early May with support from Like moths to Flames, Invent Animate, UnityTX and Foreign Hands. “The Death we Seek” is a concept album that delves deep into the themes of loss, pain, and the search for meaning in life. The album is a powerful and emotional journey that takes the listener through the darkest corners of the human experience.

Currents' sound is a blend of metalcore, djent, and post-hardcore, with a heavy emphasis on technicality and groove. The band's musicianship is top-notch, with complex guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and intense vocals that perfectly capture the raw emotion of the lyrics.

Opening with the title track "The Death We Seek," the band immediately set the tone for the evening. The crowd erupted as the heavy riffs and pounding drums filled the room. Frontman Brian Wille's vocals were piercing and raw, perfectly capturing the emotion of the song.

The band's energy never waned throughout the set, with songs like "Into Despair" and “Forever Marked" keeping the crowd engaged. Guitarists Chris Wiseman and Ryan Castaldi traded off blistering solos, while drummer Matt Young kept the rhythm tight and driving.

Currents slowed things down briefly with "Kill the Ache," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcased Wille's impressive vocal range. The song built to a powerful crescendo, leaving the crowd in awe.

Closing out the night with "Apnea," the band left everything on the stage. The crowd screamed along to every word, and the band fed off their energy. One standout moment during "Apnea," was a massive wall of death that split the entire venue from front to back. The energy was electric, and it was clear that the crowd was fully invested in the band's performance. It was a fitting end to an incredible show.

Overall, Currents put on a fantastic performance in Nashville. Their passion and energy were infectious, and they left the crowd wanting more. It's clear that the band is on the rise, and it will be exciting to see where their journey takes them next.
