Live Review

Off the back of supporting You Me At Six alongside The Hunna across Europe, Yours Truly made their long awaited return to the UK to rip some intimate headline shows. Joining them were newcomers and social media titans, South Arcade and alternative singer-songwriter Lizzy Farrall

Nationwide rail strikes meant that the Birmingham venue was less than half full but the fans that made it, showered the bands with love and appreciation that was reciprocated right back. Lizzy Farrall took to the stage to kick off proceedings and; with the help of her live band, bought heat to the intimate room. Her soothing and ethereal vocals echoed throughout the venue, captivating the crowd. A highlight of the set occurred during the final chorus of “Addict”, where Farrall instructed attendees to crouch down and - on command, jump. Roars of applause followed upon completion of what was a triumphant performance (despite unfortunate circumstance) by Lizzy Farrall.

South Arcade were next, who bought an array of pop-punk tunes to the party. From finding success on Tik-Tok, the band proved they were more than capable of translating their talents into a live setting, as they wowed the intimate Birmingham crowd. Their cover of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” went down a treat and provided the ultimate Thursday evening sing-a-long. If their solid and punchy performance was anything to go by, the band are pinned to go from strength to strength with a successful career well within their grasp.

Australian favourites Yours Truly took to the stage to close the night in style, as Mikaila Delgado and co meant business. Making it their Birmingham headline debut, fans were out in full force to shower the band with love which was evidently appreciated. Opening with the title track of their 2022 release “is this what I look like?” proved a remarkable choice, as arms flailed in the air and remained for the entirety of their action packed set. Tracks “Hallucinate” and “Bruises” followed suit, with the appearance of an acoustic rendition of “Heartsleeve”. The band gave it their all and delivered a thoroughly enjoyable set, closing with “High Hopes” and “Walk Over My Grave”, the band departed the stage all smiles.
