Live Review
The second half of Sleeping With Sirens’ UK tour was well underway, with the Norwich show being the smallest of the run and therefore, unsurprisingly the first to sell out –
with many eager fans queuing hours ahead of the action.
First support was provided by Charming Liars who took to the stage doors opened, with the room filling as their thirty minute set progressed. With lead vocalist, Kiliyan Maguire putting in an active effort to engage with the crowd, their short-but-sweet set flew by like a flash. Blasting through punchy singles: ‘The Haunting’ and ‘Violent Candy’, the band delivered a set that was crammed with energy and offered an insight into the band for those who were unfamiliar prior to their performance.
Setlist:

When Did We?

Wreck It All
Violent Candy

Next up, we’re Static Dress who have been dominating the alternative scene and taking it all in their stride. Fresh from supporting Bring Me The Horizon across Europe, this run was the band’s first string of shows back on home soil and it was clear to see – there truly is no place like home. A good handful of fans cheered at their arrival, with their set diving head first into ‘disposable care’. It was near impossible to keep eyes on lead vocalist Olli Appleyard, who was non-stop and charged about the stage, completely making it his own. Before long, the whole room was bouncing with them.

Excitement levels near trebled as Sleeping With Sirens’ appearance became imminent. As the lights went down, drummer Matty Best was first to take to the stage who delivered an explosive drum solo that launched right into the first song, ‘Break Me Down’ with the rest of Sirens filing onto the stage. For the duration of their set, the intimate room was electric. Fans unleashed their inhibitions, as did guitarist Nick Martin who; at one point, found himself wandering through the crowd whilst playing, creating an even more personal memory for the band and fans alike. A short acoustic section provided a brief moment of calm to recover from the madness, which of course saw the band play their famous cover of ‘Iris’ – originally by the Goo Goo Dolls, where lead vocalist Kellin Quinn got to shine best. Over the years, Sleeping With Sirens have built a large and dedicated following comprised of fans both old, and new. Something which undoubtedly will not be stopping anytime soon, with a new wave of emo kids discovering them for the first time, as well as those who attend again and again for nostalgia purposes. It’s safe to say, fans will be eagerly awaiting their return once again, to the UK.
