Kicking off the UK portion of their Supernova tour, Nova Twins headed to The Waterfront for the first of many sold out shows. On the back of two BRIT Awards nominations, the DIY duo have been making a name for themselves and firmly making their mark within the alternative music scene. With a tour line up exclusively comprised of women and non-binary folk, Nova Twins lead by example in demonstrating that diversity within a male dominated industry is in fact possible.

Scottish based rockers, Uninvited are first to take to the stage. Having already played to mammoth crowds at 2000 Trees and Reading Festival last year, the band demonstrated phenomenal stage presence, and did a stellar job at making themselves known to a crowd whom were not yet acquainted.

Doom Punk band Witch Fever followed suit, who graced the stage full of energy. A thumping bass blasted out, marking the start of their intense set with all eyes firmly on the stage. Lead vocalist Amy Walpole wasted no time in getting stuck in, who just a few songs in leaped into the crowd to join in on the action. Spanning through hits including “Beauty and Grace” and “Blessed Be Thy”, their 30 minute offering was captivating and certainly had a lasting impression on the dazzled audience.

With fans firmly warmed up and ready for more, headliners Nova Twins stormed onto the stage and opened with explosive track “Fire & Ice”. Passionately singing along to every word, the crowd was almost deafening as they desperately tried to match the onstage energy of Georgia South and Amy Love. The fourteen song setlist was crammed with hits spanning the band’ discography, with “Taxi” and deep cut “Wave” going down a treat. However, it was the band’s three track encore that sent the crowd into a frenzy, consisting of some of the hardest hitting of their career so far. Closing the night; to no one’s surprise, was “Choose Your Fighter” which provided the perfect opportunity for attendees to let loose for one last time.
