Live Review
As they’re reaching towards the end of their impressive 16 date run, Holding Absence take to the stage at Colchester Arts Centre, an old church turned grassroots live music venue.
Kicking off proceedings were local openers, Your Misery. With their slot starting minutes after doors opened, the room filled as their set progressed - whilst catching the attention of new fans as they poured into the venue. The band delivered a punchy performance that without a doubt gained them more than a handful of new fans.
Next to take to the stage, Australian metalcore gods, Void of Vision - a band much farther from home. It was clear from the echoing voices singing along in unison, that the band already had a few of their own fans in the room. Those who weren’t already familiar certainly were by the end of their set. Their energetic and high intensity performance soon gets the crowd moving, making Void of Vision a perfect choice in tour opener.

Holding Absence are easily one of the best bands that the UK has to offer right now. Fans selling out the vast majority of their ‘Live & in Monochrome’ tour confirms just that. Their headline set contained songs both old and new, with each track receiving a huge reaction from the crowd. From the first note, lead vocalist Lucas Woodland and co bounced around the stage, with the energy levels remaining throughout the entirety of their set.
